Wartime & Babies in Ukraine

“Born in a basement, to the sounds of artillery above, one-day-old, Maia, is yet to feel the warmth of the sun on her face.”

At Kharkiv Regional Perinatal Center in Kharkiv, Ukraine, heroic doctors and nurses struggle to provide quality care to Ukrainian women giving birth and their newborn babies.

Three out of the seven wards in the hospital were damaged by Russian artillery. Expectant mothers are often hidden away behind a bomb-proof door. Women give birth in difficult conditions and doctors do not have the medical equipment to properly monitor premature births and other complications. Power shortages further complicate deliveries and care as critical medical equipment stops working when electricity cuts out.

This hospital will soon receive relief. We will be delivering our first shipment of solar+ generators to Kharkiv Regional Perinatal Center next week! Stay tuned for photos and videos of this exciting first delivery.

“I wish for a peaceful future for her. All the rest is just details,” new mother in Ukraine.
